There are three ways of installing the Songbird Music Player on your Ubuntu PC, being via a .deb package, installing via a script or running it portably (ie not installing it, but running it from the downloaded package)
Installing Songbird with a .deb file
1. Head over to http://www.getdeb.net/app/Songbird and download the .deb song bird package
2. double click the download package to initiate the installation process
Installing Songbird via a script
1. download this installation script
2. Make the script executable, rightclick > Properties > Permisions. Tick the ‘Allow Executing File As Program’ box.
3. Double click the file, select run in terminal, and installation will commence.
Running Songbird portably
1. Download the tar.gz package from the songbird website, extract the files to any desired location
2. Double click the Songbird file within the extracted package, note that this method will not create menu launchers for the application.
