Using Nuatilus As a FTP Client

Nautilus, the default file manager and explorer for Ubuntu, has a deceivingly simple look. It may look simple but it still manages to pack in a few great features such as tabbed folder browsing and FTP capabilities. Using Nautilus as your FTP client in Ubuntu is quite straight forward, as there is no special configurations needed. Nautilus supports various kinds of ftp connection, such as FTP with login, Public FTP and WebDAV.

Connecting to a remote FTP server with Nautilus:

1. Open Nautilus or your home folder, select File > Connect To Server

2. You will then be presented with the server connection dialog, select your server type

3. Enter you FTP account details

Nautilus will then connect to the FTP server and display the contents of the file system for you to browse and alter.
